The basic logical unit of a text. It consists of one or more sentences and constitutes a content whole. Graphically, it is distinguished by either a space or a paragraph indent. The indentation is not necessary in the case of a paragraph which begins a logical unit of text overriding it, or breaks {chapter, book} (here an initial is used). These methods are sometimes used simultaneously.
